San Juan Classics Cookbook
Published in Paperback by Island Publishers (June, 2003)
Authors: Dawn Ashbach and Janice Veal
Average review score:

The Greatest Cook Book I have ever reviewed.
The delicious recipes in this book are beyond compare. You will find mouth watering and nutritous entrees, salads and desserts. A varitable cornucopia of the very best from the Northwest and from around the world.

Excellent..........brings back memories of home............
Being a Northwest native, I truly appreciate the recipes from the 'locals'! I am constantly referring to this wonderful book, and reminscing about my childhood in Anacortes, Washington. When is the new San Juan Classics II coming out? I saw it advertised at the new Guemes Island country store last week! How can I get this new cookbook; as I have been "transplanted" to the East Coast for a few years...........Sad but true!

Excellent cookbook!
I have used many cookbooks in my time. After wasting much time, I now only use The Joy of Cooking and San Juan Classics. Also, I heard that they are coming out with another one!

Street's Cruising Guide to the Eastern Caribbean: Puerto Rico, the Passage Islands, the Us and British Virgin Islands/1995 (Street's Cruising Guide)

Author: Donald M., Jr. Street

St,Martin-Anguilla-St. Barths-Saba
Excellent It bailed us out when we ran out of light before getting into the anchorage at Philipsburg and got us into several beaches that were completely deserted.

A bit dated is spots (it is 7 years old) For example, Saba has installed a number of excellent mooring on the south and west sides on the island, making it much easier to get either by the traditional landing or LLadder Landing on the West side. There is a road down to that now (no more 1000 steps to climb). However it was out when we were there (4-1-00)

Don't sail or charter in the USVI & BVI without this book
We've sailed and chartered in the USVI and BVI numerous times and ALWAYS take this guide with us. From little known anchorages (Mermaids Chair on St. Thomas) to the most frequented (Great Harbor on Yost Van Dyke)this guide is without equal.

Incredible-Indispensible!
Although I have been sailing for 40 years, this was the most useful and informative sailing guide I have ever read. It adverted me from several unknown and possibly costly collisions...and I'm not referring to other boats. His harbor guides and navigational charts were indispensible! BUY BUY BUY!!!!

Trapped at the Bottom of the Sea
Published in Paperback by Crossway Books (June, 1990)
Author: Frank E. Peretti
Average review score:

Frank Peretti scores again!
It's Frank Peretti's brilliant novel writing skills...condensed! It's a super-cool family of archeologists--minus a mother--who investigate phenomena in the spirit of Indiana Jones, only with a Christian perspective. A nice alternative to the gore and junk in the Indiana Jones movies.

This time, all is NOT well in the Cooper family. Lila and her father part under unhappy terms, and she boards a military plane bound for the U.S. Things go ill, however, when the plane is hijacked and Lila finds herself locked inside a huge steel canister...Trapped at the Bottom of the Sea.

The Cooper men team up with Bad Dave, a local, lovable dude who helps them island-hop in order to rescue Lila before time runs out. Russian terrorists, angry natives (every book has to have them), and the miraculous love of God, all crammed into this cool little novel make it hard to put down. Parents and kids alike will love it!

Your books are the best!
Great book. I liked so much I could not stop reading it

a GREAT book!
This book is suspenseful to the end! A gripping book that I couldn't put down. I couldn't wait to find out the conclusion of the book. I recommend this book to kids and teens! This series is awesome!

Treasured Islands
Published in Hardcover by Xlibris Corporation (December, 2001)
Author: John Fiore

Pure Genius
Treasured Islands was the first book I've ever read from cover to cover. It was, without a doubt, a real page turner. It was well written with a storyline that was of creative genius. I highly recommend it to anyone who likes to get what they pay for. It's worth every cent of the cost and every second it takes to read it.

Treasured Islands
Treasured Islands was a very good book. I did notice the phase "for all intent and purposes" was a little over used. The author seems to have a good sense of humor. Maybe he should incorporate that into his next project. I would definitely recommend this book to friends and family. In fact, I already have.

Treasured Islands
If you like Tom Clancy you'll love this book! Each page reveals an unexpected turn of events.

A Tree on Turtle Island
Published in Hardcover by PageFree Publishing (November, 2002)
Author: Sheila Seclearr
Average review score:

Historical Vision
Seclearr weaves the healing journeys of several individuals into a tapestry that reveals a path to peace. Whereas Coehlo's classic "The Alchemist" works magic on the personal journey of discovery, "A Tree on Turtle Island" provides insights that also apply to neighborhoods and nations.

A deep understanding of history could help humans avoid repeating the cycles of violence, victimization, hatred and revenge which plague our world. We need stories such as "A Tree on Turtle Island" to guide us as we attempt, on the personal, political and cultural level, to create more relationships of partnership rather than domination. This book is a remarkable achievement towards that goal.

New Friends
I read this book after a good friend recommended it, and I feel as if I have met new friends because of it. I finished A Tree on Turtle Island almost three weeks ago, yet the characters remain with me. Seclearr's writing style is so unforced and smooth and not contrived that she can easily weave her very disparate story threads together into a beautiful fabric. The fabric renders the threads and characters inherently linked, and I think this in turn allows the reader to engage with the characters and develop an immediate empathy with them. I have thought about Maggie and Swataney and Quinn and Reed almost every day and wonder what will happen next. The turtle totem is powerful and palpable, and ties the characters together and to the reader. Excellent story.

A Review of A Tree on Turtle Island by Sheila Seclearr
As I entered the Story of Quinn and Reed and Maggie, the main characters in Seclearr's novel, I was immediately thrown back to another story which served to shape and guide my journey in life--as spiritual seeker and psychotherapist--From Bernard Nietschmann quoted in Askwasakne Notes probably 20 years ago, telling a Miskito Indian Story.

It goes like this: After delivering a lecture on the solar system, philosopher--psychologist William James was approached by an elderly lady who claimed she had a theory superior to the one described by him.

"We don't live on a ball rotating around the sun," she said. "We live on a crust of earth on the back of a giant turtle."

Not wishing to demolish this absurd argument with the massive scientific evidence at his command, James decided to dissuage his opponent gently. "If your theory is correct, madam, what does this turtle stand on?"

"You're a very clever man, Mr. James, and that's a good question, but I can answer that. The first turtle stands on the back of a second, far larger turtle."

"But that does this second turtle stand on?" James asked patiently.

The old lady crowed triumphantly, "It's no use, Mr. James--it's turtles all the way down."

Ms. Seclearr has given us the gift of this story told through timeless eyes across history and culture. A Tree on Turtle Island powerfully, yet gently, takes the reader into web of life where we discover we are all connected here on Turtle Island. One is introduced to a new way of experiencing connection and history through the adventures of Reed and Quinn, two women in search of themselves who ultimately find that and more--that the yearning to be one's self is timeless and universal. They may differ in time and circumstance to Maggie and her family, but their struggle rings true to Maggie's journey to find herself and be true to that self, and to make peace with herself. Seclearr has created engaging and complex characters who surprise and delight with their fullness and humanity. She has undertaken the challenge to weave together several disparate cultures and themes--early Native American--Colonist, Morovian history, modern day America, issues of the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community, without seeming forced or contrived. This is an engaging and moving read as much for the story as for the characters for whom for this reviewer became a co-companion on the journey. Whether traveling with Maggie in the mid-1700's or traveling with Quinn and Reed today, A Tree On Turtle Island, traveled into my heart and psyche and took root. © 2002

White Wolf: Living With an Arctic Legend
Published in Hardcover by NorthWord Press (December, 1988)
Authors: Jim Brandenburg and James S. Thornton
Average review score:

wonderful
This is a wonderful book with lots of amazing wolf and landscape pictures. While some people might be disturb by some of the dead animals in the picture, as a animal lover I reckon this book had shown the reality of the nature truthfully, and I really love this book.

Beautiful Photos
This is an excellent book on artic wolves. I enjoyed reading about their lives. If you are not in the mood to read the photos are worth the cost of the book.

It takes a village-the wolf still knows what we've forgotten
Brandenburg's experience shows the wolf as a loving and compassionate family-oriented animal that is as wild at heart as they come. These highly intelligent creatures seemed to stay a step ahead of their distant watchers. This leads to some hilarious encounters and a tear jerking ending. Follow this up with "Brother Wolf."

Yoshi's Island: Super Mario World 2 Player's Guide
Published in Paperback by Sandwich Islands Pub (March, 1996)
Authors: Zach Meston and J. Douglas Arnold
Average review score:

The Best Guide To Yoshi's Island Available
This is a great guide to a long forgotten SNES game created in 1995. This particular guide is much better than the "official" version, which only gave us long, hard to read maps. This "unofficial guide" provides a lot of detailed screen shots, especially helpful when trying to find certain hidden items. I found it a lot more useful than the Nintendo guide for achieving the 100 point levels needed to unlock the bonus levels. I think that there is a Game Boy Advance version of this game coming soon and if they don't make changes, this will be an excellent guide to the game.

I looooooooooooooove this book!
I think that this book will help everyone who wants to know how to play Yoshi's Island; Super MArio World 2

harry hedge's hogs cave
i made to to harry hedgehosgs cave but tont know how to get out of it can you help me with this level

Adventure Guide to the Leeward Islands: Anguilla, St. Martin, St. Barts, St. Kitts & Nevis, Antiqua & Barbuda (Serial)
Published in Paperback by Hunter Publishing, Inc. (February, 1998)
Authors: Paris Permenter and John Bigley
Average review score:

A "must have" guidebook for Leeward Islands
I wish I had met this book before I went to St. Kitts & Nevis for the first time. It tells you everything about them and you can count on it. Very easy to find out what to do, where to go, stay and eat. Very organized and easy to read. Many pictures in this book.

Great book even for returning visitors
I have been traveling to Anguilla for several years but just found some new discoveries in this guidebook.

Great guide to numerous islands
I just returned from a trip to St. Kitts and Nevis and found this book very useful, from the time I was selecting a hotel until I was on the island and looking for a place to eat. Through this guide, I learned about many out of the way spots that were overlooked by other guides. I am looking forward to using other sections of the book on a trip next year to St. Martin and Anguilla.

Alcatraz Island: Maximum Security
Published in Paperback by Donald James Hurley (October, 1989)
Author: Donald J. Hurley
Average review score:

best book on alcatraz by far
as a person who has read many books on Alcatraz, i can say that this is an excellent book to read, filled with many pictures. Describes all the escape attempts, and generally keeps you from putting it down to read it in one sitting..... I highly reccommend it!!!Great insites on The Birdman, Creepy, etc...some facts that other books dont reveal...

Outstanding Job
This book was great!!! It contained much precise information about the Island, from beginning to end: Conquistadores to the closure of the Federal Pennitenary on March 21, 1963. It personified many individuals who lived on Alcatraz, both families and inmates. It also gave a very descriptive overview of almost every part of the prison and it's operations. The book also has much information about individual prisoners and their escape attempts. Not to mention, the book is loaded with tons of pictures. I believe this book was the greatest book ever writtten about Alcatraz Island Federal Pennitenary. I guess enough to make me want to go into the field of Corrections Administration. The book is very easy to read, along with many vivid pictures on each page that makes the entire book very impressive. Mr. Donald Hurley did an outstanding job!!!

Excellent - Best Alcatraz book that I have read
I have read about ten books on Alcatraz and this one is by far the best. The author is the son of one of the guards that was at Alcatraz. He has certainly done his homework before writing this book. He lists each attempted escape from the first to the last listing the participants and what happened during the attempt and also what eventually happened to each inmate.
